T-Mobile, Starbucks and Wireless
I read the blog further, it's more complicated than at first glance. T-Mobile (groan) pays for the infrastructure and the equipment used to lay down the wi-fi connection. So until T-Mobile recoups their investment (and likely not even then), Starbucks has to charge via T-Mobile for wireless. As several have pointed out, it seems like a bad business decision when even McDonald's has free wireless. I think that Java's Brewin', the new coffee shop in Patchogue (next to the theater) has free wi-fi access. If so, I'll go there on my day off, even though their coffee isn't as good.
